  艾略特·厄威特Elliott Erwitt1928年生于巴黎，父母都是漂泊在国外的俄国人，起初的名字叫Romano，缘自他父亲为了纪念曾在罗马学习的时光。Erwitt的童年是在意大利的米兰度过，在学校讲意大利语，在家同父母说俄语。二次大战爆发后，10岁的Erwitt随同父母移民到美国，一个陌生的环境，暂时无法理解的英语，使得小Erwitt更多的用眼睛去观察身周围的世界。

  16岁时，Erwitt在假期里接触摄影，在洛杉矶的家庭附近拍摄一些孩子和婚礼的黑白照片，并自学放大照片。18岁，Erwitt乘坐灰狗长途车从洛杉矶一路到纽约，用随身的相机记录下他所捕捉到的画面，这个时候，Erwitt的风格就已经形成：幽默、传神、电影般的瞬间，你会长时间的盯着某张照片，并且会心的领略到照片后的故事。

  跑天下的聪明人，真的不多了。

  有些摄影师是去蹭热点，而厄威特有自己的激动点。

  例如封面照《飞机与小鸟》，在纽约康尼岛拍的，有那么股《伊索寓言》的味儿。

  没见过这么有趣的照片。

  动物嫉妒的注视，如同343页一群裸体的学生为着衣的人画速写。模特一种索非亚·罗兰的眼神。

  P372的北卡州的老妇女看风骚的裸体模特假人。

  应该说，摄影师都喜欢这种eye-to-eye的对视，有战斗，有戏剧。（看380—383）

  在面对世界领袖的时候，摄影师都是战士。461拍杜鲁门、397拍凯利王妃、393拍保罗六世，322拍赫鲁晓夫、307尼克松、407格瓦拉、259拍艾克和肯尼迪。你都忍受保安、重重阻碍、成排的同行、忍受会冒犯采访人的压力。其实他的照片都是冒犯，但是以最聪明的方式。

  如果是拍大众热爱的明星人物，就不会这样。比如48惠勒、65希区柯克、485白兰度、63托马斯曼、22梦露、62凯鲁亚克，都有一种亲密感。当然，也有很多冰冷的伪装没有卸除，53页的马丁·布伯、奥菲斯。

  但Erwitt总蹭出了自己的热点，这就是Snap的精义吧。
