  关于季羡林先生，我们比较熟悉的是他晚年笑眯眯的替北大新生看行李的故事。这本书里摘录他早年日记里写道“长之说‘一个大学者的成就并不怎样神奇，其实平淡得很，只是一步步走上去的。这最少给我们一点兴奋剂，使我们不致自甘暴弃。回家后，心情大变。I Have gotten refreshment’”。看吧，大学者年轻时迷茫过，一步步走上去，大学者就是这样炼成的。
