  介绍了令人血脉贲张的亚述帝国充满暴力和血腥的皇宫浮雕，我尤其酷爱几个垂死的狮子浮雕。这本书的印刷极其精致，即使身在大英博物馆拍照也拍不出如此干净清晰的效果和细节。可以看到国王身上衣服精美的花纹和头发及首饰的完美细节。缺点是内容太少，只是泛泛而谈，而且没有收录我最喜欢的一个垂死的狮子浮雕图片，如果是印刷每一个细节，再配上整体效果图的书就太完美了，希望大英博物馆能出吧。（PS：最近看了大量中东的早期浮雕和雕刻，虽然都十分精美，但确实亚述浮雕相比之下还是明显优秀，令人看着就非常愉悦。）

  太精美了，细节特别特别清晰，能看清每个花纹的细节，亚述浮雕的构成感特别精彩，恢宏古朴，每根线条都用在了最精准的位置

  1）以宋史的眼光看去，作者的观点应该成立。所以我引用过许多次。但作者不少论证，尽管我努力多次，也没能全部读懂。所以不敢全然信服。2）依这本书，唐前期的行政制度似乎略显僵化。我对此仍有疑虑。正在补课，重读严耕望的研究。希望能有通贯的认识。
