He remembered when hiss family received lily, the day she was named, the day that she had become a one.

There was never any confortable ay to mention or discuss one's success without breaking the rule against bragging, even if one didn't mean to. It was a minor rule, rather like rudeness, punishable only by gentle chastisement.

It was the sort of thing one didn't ask a friend about because it might have fallen into that uncomfortable category of "being different." Asher took a pill each morning; Jonas did not. Always better, less rude, to talk about things that were the same.

The entire community had performed the Ceremony of Loss together, murmuring the neme Caleb throughout and entire day, less and less frequently, fofter in volume, as the long and somber day went on, so that the little Four seemed to fade away gradually from everyone's consciousness.

Now, at this special Naming, the community performed the brief Murmur-of-Replacement Ceremony, repeating the name for the first time since the loss: softly and slowly at first, then faster and with greater volume, as the couple stood on the stage with the newchild sleeping in the mother's arms. It was as f the first Caleb were returning.

  本书比较短小精悍，是一系列对于现实情况的经济学思考，适合下午茶的时候读。

  读完之后重新看格格不入这个书名，很有意思，传统的经济学理论和现实总是存在着格格不入，但又能协同发展。

  主流经济学确实一直在受到挑战，宏观经济学的发展远不如微观经济学，但这并不证明它不重要，反而要思考其发展滞缓的原因，思考如何改进宏观预测模型的精度。

  第一册：我们只能看到作者带给我们的，其他的不必去管，人事物在时间的前进中变化发展，有些死心塌地的人或许离开了，有的人情世故在富有之后变得不同了，且都不去说它了，论社会于人心，哪一个在其中不难免失落沦陷，无论他以前多么正直。

  第二册：人生真道是“此一时，彼一时。”这册胡雪岩身在富贵而不自知的福中，一切看起来“鲜花着锦，烈火煎油”。但危险已经有呼之欲出的苗头，而本人却被埋在鼓里的茫茫然，大败之境惊显。

  第三册：胡雪岩的失败原因向来大家众说纷纭，有的说是骄奢淫逸，无心事业导致的失败、有的说他是李左政治斗争的牺牲品、有的说他是被社会进步淘汰掉的，如此种种兼而有之，再说胡雪岩的成功固然有他自己能力强大的原因，但更多的是他顺应大势，乘风而行的原因，后来他居然反其道而行之在上商不言商，于洋商斗法不采取西方先进纺织技术，看起来是为了民族义气，保护丝农利益，但是这样想已经被历史进步滚滚思潮的车轮碾压了。“造化弄人”四字对于一个人对也不对，往事都成灰，希望后辈以此为鉴以此为戒。
